This year we will continue the implementation of our summer practice project on which, you as a 3rd-year student can learn and develop your skills for 6 hours per day starting the 1st of July until 31 August (2 months).

All the summer practice will be done on-site (in Timisoara and Sibiu).

Step Length Estimation for Closed Doors Navigation

Mobile outdoor GPS navigation apps have proven to be lifesavers for visually impaired people. With a smartphone in hand, the way to a destination can be easily found, even in an unknown place. However, it is still easy to get lost indoors, where GPS satellite signals cannot be accurately tracked by navigation apps. Here begin our challenges. We want to improve the application and plan 3 teams to work in parallel on algorithms for the step detection mechanism using 3 different AI/ML approaches (2 teams in Sibiu, 1 team in Timisoara), then we will analyze the obtained results.
