Bavaria's blood donor service organizes staff using ATOSS Workforce Management
The Bavarian Red Cross Blood Donor Service is one of the largest of its kind in Germany. The BSD organizes 5,000 blood donor sessions a year with around 500,000 blood donations, ensuring that clinics and doctors in Bavaria are fully covered - 24/7 and 365 days a year. Deployment of the 21 interdisciplinary donation teams with four to twelve staff members each must be planned and managed accordingly. Many factors come into play: fluctuating blood donation levels, working shifts, collectively bargained pay scales, qualifications and billing modalities.
ATOSS gets to the heart of the highly complex requirements for more than 700 staff and around 200 fee-based doctors. The workforce management solution enables the BSD to calculate demand linked to donors, and to provide cost-effective workforce scheduling. At the same time, employees can be more closely involved in the organization of working time. The integrated business intelligence tool provides the basis for meaningful management analysis and identifying further optimization potential.
HR Director Christina Greif explains: "Blood saves lives. Bavaria alone needs up to 2,400 blood donations a day. In order to provide a universal supply, workforce management and logistics need to be coordinated precisely. Our workforce management solution gives us that guarantee."
