Company Overview

AOB Invest GmbH is a single-family office building a diversified portfolio of liquid and private investments across multiple asset classes. Role Overview

The Head of Finance and Operations will build, lead, and oversee the finance function of the family office. This includes responsibility for financial controlling, accounting, treasury, portfolio reporting, and coordination of tax and regulatory matters across entities and jurisdictions. The Head of Finance and Operations will work closely with the investment team and the managing director to provide timely, accurate, and decision-relevant financial information and to ensure robust financial infrastructure as the portfolio grows in size and complexity.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Controlling and Reporting

  • Set up and oversee financial controlling for the family office and all correlated entities (domestic & int.).
  • Produce monthly / quarterly management accounts and consolidated financials.
  • Provide clear reporting on costs, liquidity, and investment performance by asset class / vehicle.

Accounting, Systems, and Treasury

  • Implement and manage the portfolio management / reporting system and its integration with accounting and banking.
  • Oversee cash management, payments, bank relationships, and FX where relevant.

Portfolio and Investment Support

  • Track capital calls, distributions, and cash flows for funds, SPVs, and direct investments.
  • Maintain accurate position, valuation, and performance data across the portfolio.
  • Support the investment team with financial input on new deals, structures, and ongoing monitoring.

Tax, Legal, and Regulatory Coordination

  • Coordinate investment related tax planning and compliance with external advisors; ensure timely filings in relevant jurisdictions.
  • Oversee legal and corporate housekeeping for entities (registers, resolutions, filings).
  • Monitor relevant regulatory requirements for the family office and ensure compliance.

Infrastructure Buildout

  • Continuously improve processes, systems, and reporting quality to support a scalable family office platform.

Your Profile

Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in finance, controlling, audit, or transaction services, ideally with exposure to investment structures, multi-entity environments, or complex financial reporting (e.g. family office, asset manager, private equity / venture capital, Big 4, or comparable professional services firm).
  • Demonstrated experience in building or significantly upgrading finance and reporting infrastructure in a lean, entrepreneurial setting.
  • Strong exposure to multi-asset class portfolios (e.g., public markets, funds, private equity / VC, and real estate) is highly preferred.
  • Proven track record of working closely with investment teams and senior principals/owners.

Education and Qualifications

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • Chartered accountant qualification strongly preferred (e.g., Wirtschaftsprüfer, Steuerberater, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent).
  • Strong technical understanding of accounting principles (HGB and/or IFRS; additional local GAAP a plus).

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent knowledge of financial controlling, consolidation, and management reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with accounting and portfolio management / reporting systems; able to design and improve processes, not just operate them.
  • Strong grasp of tax, structuring, and regulatory considerations relevant for investment holding structures and family offices (coordinated with external experts).
  • High proficiency in Excel and financial modelling; familiarity with BI / reporting tools is an advantage.
  • Very strong attention to detail combined with the ability to present complex information in a clear, concise way to stakeholders.
