Integrated platform to replace legacy system, automate core processes, and strengthen operational control in clinical environments
ATOSS Software SE, a leading provider of digital workforce management solutions, has been selected by Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin to implement its innovative ATOSS platform for staff scheduling and time management. The platform enables structured capture of employee preferences, simplifies team coordination, and facilitates the digital management of short-term changes. The goal is to establish a planning approach that is efficient, transparent, and employee-centric.
“We are delighted to support Charité in shaping a modern working environment,” said Andreas Obereder, Founder and CEO of ATOSS Software SE. “Our digital workforce management solutions significantly reduce administrative effort, freeing up valuable time and capacity for patient care. At a strategic level, the capabilities of a modern workforce management system — particularly forward-looking service capabilities — also contribute to a noticeable increase in attractiveness as an employer.”
Carla Eysel, Executive Board Member for Human Resources and Nursing at Charité, emphasizes the strategic importance of the decision: “With the new platform, we are strengthening Charité’s digital operational capabilities. Our goal is to reliably map increasingly complex regulatory and collective agreement requirements, reduce administrative workload, and create a future-ready, integrated system landscape for workforce deployment planning.”
With the new platform, preferences and individual requirements can be captured in a structured manner. Team coordination is also to be simplified, and short-term changes can be organized digitally. The goal is greater planning reliability for all involved, combined with greater flexibility in everyday clinical operations and increased productivity.
“According to Germany’s Federal Statistical Office, at least 280,000 additional nursing staff will be needed by 2049 — at a time when the sector is already facing a severe skilled labor shortage. As a healthcare provider, action must be taken now to address these challenges in the future. Hiring more staff is not always possible; the existing workforce must be deployed in an optimized way,” said Andreas Obereder. “This is exactly where the ATOSS solution comes into play: it is about better supporting teams and making their deployment more sustainable.
ATOSS is specifically designed to meet the highly dynamic requirements of the care and hospital sector and combines workforce demand planning, staff scheduling, and time management in a fully integrated platform. Advanced, data-driven algorithms make it possible to map complex workflows precisely, design flexible shift models, and ensure compliance with legal and collective agreement requirements at all times.
Through forward-looking, demand-oriented staffing planning, resources can be optimally adapted to fluctuating demand — from long-term workforce planning to short-term rescheduling in the event of absences or peak workloads. At the same time, all processes — from planning and time tracking, account balances, analytics, and management reporting — are supported digitally, in an audit-compliant manner, and largely automated.
In this way, ATOSS creates the foundation for future-oriented, resilient workforce management in hospitals and care facilities, sustainably strengthening quality of care, economic efficiency, and employee satisfaction.
